About the team Transpower Sustainability team is responsible for improving the sustainability of our ongoing operations while driving long term change.
The Sustainability team develops the sustainability strategy, which is underpinned by an extensive implementation programme to ensure we continually improve the sustainability of our operations across all divisions and teams within Transpower, as well as with our service provider, supplier, and community partners.
About the Opportunity Transpower's Carbon & Sustainability Accountant is a new role, which will play a critical role supporting the delivery of our emissions inventory and climate statement reports as well as Transpower's wider climate risk and sustainability strategy programmes.
As Carbon & Sustainability Accountant you will streamline our greenhouse gas and climate risk reporting data processes, whilst developing innovative procedures and identifying efficiencies in ways of working.
You will collaborate with our wider Sustainability Team and other stakeholders to analyse data and metrics and develop key carbon and sustainability financial tools.
This includes:
Lead collecting, analysing and data reporting on our carbon footprint in accordance with Greenhouse Gas (GHG) standards and protocols in support of the delivery of our annual emissions inventory report;Lead defining, collation and reporting on climate-related data and the financial impact to Transpower of climate-related risks and opportunities in accordance with GHG standards and the XRB's Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Standards in support of the delivery of our annual climate statement report;Develop other key carbon and sustainability financial tools, datasets and metrics, including to support monitoring and management of sustainability initiatives, Transpower's emissions and climate-related risks and opportunities.What will you bring? With proven experience undertaking financial reporting within a large complex organisation, ideally related to carbon and sustainability, you will possess excellent facilitation, collaboration and influencing skills and be adept at partnering with senior leaders / executives to drive outcomes.
This role will see you in a critical role in the delivery of our emissions and climate risk disclosure reporting.
Given the potential complexity and evolving nature of this for a large-scale infrastructure owner and operator you will be experienced at applying a project management approach, have proven advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to think across systems.
You be able to demonstrate the application of strong analytical skills, within a commercial environment, with ability to draw insight from your analysis and communicate these insights effectively through well-developed communication and stakeholder management skills.
This opportunity will suit someone with excellent time management skills, who is comfortable in a high workload, task driven environment with the ability to navigate ambiguity and develop practices and processes, and who can pick things up quickly and be results focussed.
An understanding of corporate sustainability reporting standards and frameworks (i.e.
GRI, IR, ISO, Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Standards) will be advantageous although can be learnt.
