Community Standards Liaison

About This Role
As a volunteer Independent Prison Visitor, you will contribute to ensuring that Victoria's prison system meets community standards by providing independent views and advice to the Minister for Corrections.
Your responsibilities include visiting a designated correctional centre once a month, interacting with prisoners, staff, and visitors, and reporting back to the Ministry through a written summary.
Upon commencing each visit, you will meet with a member of the prison management team to discuss key information regarding the day's events or recent incidents.
During your visit, you will have access to all areas of the correctional centre and engage with prisoners, staff members, and other service providers.
It is essential to note that you must have access to a computer with internet connectivity to submit your reports securely.
Pre-employment checks are mandatory for the selected candidate, which may include reference checks, national police checks, and misconduct screening. Depending on the role, additional checks may be required.
