Salary

The indicative salary range for this role is $147,686 - $161,266 including Kiwisaver employer contributions.

About the Role

This position sits within the Assurance function, which provides assurance to Government and the public about the performance and capability of the emergency management system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a pragmatic assurance system, including creating standards and developing monitoring and evaluation tools.
  • Conduct thorough assurance activities, providing valuable assessments to inform decision-making.
  • Deliver timely and high-quality advice and reports to senior decision-makers.
  • Support response and recovery efforts in national, regional, or local emergencies.
  • Manage and build a high-performing team, ensuring staff wellbeing and welfare.
  • Develop strong relationships with national, regional, and local partners and stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Flexible and adaptive thinking in changing circumstances.

  • Commitment to developing Maori capability and cultural confidence.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or significant experience in regulation.
  • Proven experience in assurance, compliance, regulatory, or risk management programs.
  • Experience in implementing project plans and frameworks, preferably within government settings.
  • Ability to work in emergency response settings as required.
  • Knowledge of emergency management processes and planning.
  • Experience in procurement and contract management, with an understanding of government software and IT.
