The purpose of the Assurance Unit is to provide assurance to Government and the public about the performance and capability of the emergency management system.
To do this we support the development and application of consistent standards for emergency management, conduct assurance activities across the country (such as reviews, audits and other engagements) and provide high quality assessments, reports and advice to decision makers regarding the state of New Zealand's emergency management system.In this role you will:Lead the development of a pragmatic assurance system, including creating standards and developing monitoring and evaluation tools.Conduct thorough assurance activities, providing valuable assessments to inform decision-making.Deliver timely and high-quality advice and reports to senior decision-makers.Support response and recovery efforts in national, regional, or local emergencies.Manage and build a high performing team, ensuring staff wellbeing and welfare.Develop strong relationships with national, regional, and local partners and stakeholders.As NEMA is an operational agency, there may be a requirement to respond to emergency activations in the event of a national emergency response.
This may include potentially long hours and challenging working conditions, e.g.
an emergency could occur at any time of the day or night and may require working shifts and/or working weekends.
NEMA provides thorough training prior to you being required to assist in a response.
NEMA will do all in its power to support staff in meeting their work and family responsibilities during an emergency.
