About the Role

The Intake and Assessment Clinician plays a critical role in facilitating access to mental health services within the community. This position involves triaging referrals from various sources, undertaking face-to-face initial assessments, and recognizing the importance of culturally safe practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Triage referrals from the community
  • Conduct initial assessments with individuals
  • Liaise with relevant services to ensure safe, high-quality care
  • Evaluate crisis/urgent referrals for escalation to crisis mental health and addiction services
  • Collaborate with community mental health teams and local service providers to identify suitable services and support for individuals

About the Team

We are an experienced mental health team located in the Hutt Valley. Our team consists of professionals from diverse backgrounds, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and registered mental health nurses. We work closely with visiting NGOs, lived experience leads, and other teams from Wellington.

Requirements

  • A registered mental health professional with recent experience in mental health
  • An up-to-date practicing certificate
  • Experience in mental health triage and risk assessment
  • COVID-19 vaccination status
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
