Job Description
This Clinical Nurse Specialist role offers an exceptional opportunity to lead the delivery of specialized mental health nursing services within the Department of Corrections NZ. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with colleagues to provide expert clinical practice and rehabilitation-oriented healthcare to those in our care.
About You
We are seeking a registered nurse with experience in mental health nursing, preferably in primary/community, secondary, or tertiary settings. Your strong cultural competence, including understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application, will be essential in developing culturally safe practices and partnerships with Māori whānau and iwi.
Responsibilities and Requirements
- Deliver high-quality mental health nursing services, including initial triage and assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of interventions.
- Collaborate with the Intervention and Support Practice Team to ensure seamless service delivery and integration of primary health and tertiary mental health services.
- Maintain accurate records and participate in regular clinical supervision to ensure quality care.
- Possess a current Nursing Council of NZ Annual Practising Certificate as a Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrate strong cultural competence, including understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application.
- Show evidence of relevant experience working with individuals facing acute and complex mental health issues.
