Resilience and Emergency Planning Officer

The Hamilton City Council is seeking a dedicated Resilience and Emergency Planning Officer to support our emergency management efforts. In this role, you will work closely with Council, communities, and agencies to understand hazards, plan for risk, and develop preparedness against disasters.

You will be responsible for building relationships with communities and other agencies, educating them about natural and man-made hazards, and developing emergency response plans. During emergencies, you will focus on delivering and adapting those plans to ensure a rapid response to unfolding needs.

Key Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in emergency management.
  • Completed CDEM sector training.
  • Strong decision-making skills under stress.
  • A solutions-focused attitude and commitment to disaster resilience.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Facilitation and technology skills.
  • Cultural awareness.
