About Historic Claims

Historic Claims provides an Alternative Disputes Resolution Service on behalf of MSD, assisting claimants who have raised allegations or concerns of abuse or neglect while in State care.

We work closely with claimants to help them understand their past experience in care, acknowledging and recognising the harm they have experienced and taking steps to put this right.

A key focus for Historic Claims is delivering the best possible outcomes for claimants, ensuring they encounter a positive experience every time they interact with us.

Role Overview

  • This role requires a skilled claims assessor to use available information relevant to the claimant to conduct assessments against the Historic Claims framework and provide recommendations to support decision making.
  • You will be a key part of helping claimants understand their care experience and achieve redress and healing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of claims under the Historic Claims framework.
  • Work closely with Senior Claimant Support Specialists to ensure all relevant information required to support the claimant through the process is readily available.
  • Prepare information for and/or contribute to, claimant feedback sessions to offer closure.
  • Synthesise large amounts of information into concise, well-written assessments.
  • Ensure all relevant information is recorded through the assessment process to support delivery of the Historic Claims service.
