Job Overview

New Zealand Government seeks an experienced nursing professional to fill the role of Nurse Director: General, a key leadership position within Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide overall leadership for the strategic direction, day-to-day operations, quality, and clinical governance in general nursing services.

The primary purpose of this role is to lead nursing quality and safety performance, ensuring nurses contribute to and meet key organisational objectives, and contribute to Te Tai Tokerau nursing leadership to enable the delivery of a high-performing health system focused on service delivery and outcomes.

Your Skills and Qualifications

  • New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate
  • Masters degree in nursing, health, Māori health or health management
  • Leadership experience and abilities with a flexible and collaborative leadership style
  • Sound understanding of professional ethics, change management, and quality improvement practice
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects/initiatives that give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings

Estimated Salary: NZD 140,000 - NZD 160,000 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)
