Care | Kia Tika - We care for each other and do the right thing Connect | Kotahitanga - We unite in a common purpose Courage | Kia Maia - We are brave, capable and confident Mo to matou Ropu - About the team The Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ) is New Zealand's national search and rescue organisation and is responsible for coordinating all major maritime and aviation search & rescue missions within New Zealand's Search and Rescue Region (SRR); and land-based missions arising from someone activating a distress beacon.Te tunga | The role As a SARO, you will coordinate, manage and direct responses to search and rescue (SAR) incidents.
Working as members of a small team, SAROs provide year round operational coverage on a 24/7 rotating shift system.
Outside of the watch role you will be involved in a number of other key initiatives such as assistance for SAR services provided by other agencies and undertaking development, liaison and training delivery activities in New Zealand and the wider pacific.If successful, you will be initially employed on a fixed-term basis as a Training SARO.
We offer a comprehensive and in-depth training programme for the first 12 weeks where you will receive support and encouragement every step of the way.
On successful completion of the training programme, you will become a permanent employee and move into the SARO role.

The initial salary for the training period of three months is $85,079 and on successfully completing the training and becoming permanent the salary goes to $87,384 plus a roster allowance of $14,603 once you start working shifts.
