This role presents a unique opportunity to lead a significant change and improvement process across the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley (CCHV) District that has our Pacific communities, whanau and their needs at its core.
Therefore the successful candidate requires advanced relationship and stakeholder management skills in order to engage and work with Pacific people to achieve health equity and outcomes.
The successful applicant will also provide professional advice to the Senior Leadership Team and the MHAIDS Executive Directors on matters impacting Pacific peoples.
Mo to matou ropu – About our team The health services of Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District includes the Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability (MHAID) Service.
The Service has over 1400 employees and annual revenue of $150m.
MHAIDS has three main service areas – local services spanning the District (Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast); regional services for the central region, including the forensic and rehabilitation service with bases throughout the lower half of the North Island; and national Intellectual Disability Services with five bases located in Auckland, Cambridge, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin and inpatient units at Ratonga Rua o Porirua.
The national youth forensic facility at Kenepuru Hospital sits within the Forensic and Rehabilitation Service.
MHAIDS are led by a Senior Leadership Team of which the Principal Advisor Pacific will be a member.
We are looking for an experienced advisor who can fill this new role.
Mou – About you The successful candidate will have: Relevant post graduate qualification in health, business or related field  A strategic focus and actively been involved in strategic planning processes Excellent written and verbal communication skills A deep understanding of and experience in the design, planning and delivery of effective services for Pacific people and fanau  Experience and skills of working with key pacific stakeholders within and across the organisations Experience of engaging and consulting with Pacific communities in culturally appropriate ways Knowledge and understanding of Pacific cultures and models of care and the application of these in service delivery Experience in contracting with the MOH and NGO sector and other government agencies Knowledge of funding mechanisms within the pacific health sectors Knowledge of key national pacific health policy documents and quality standards Knowledge and experience of applying equity considerations in service design and delivery E pa ana ki a tatou – About us Here at Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley District we embrace diversity and welcome applications from all people, including all gender identities, ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations, disability and religions.
