Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Maori cultural leader to join our team as a Kaumatua for Forensics Community & Inpatient Service. This is a part-time position based in Tawhirimatea inpatient unit, and we require someone with knowledge of Tikanga, the ability to maintain the Kawa and Kaupapa of the service, and provide guidance to mental health services on issues relating to Tikanga Maori.

Job Description

The ideal applicant will be able to work independently and/or as part of a team, providing evidence of fostering good relationships, leadership and decision-making with the ability to motivate and influence the practice of others. You would also be a proficient speaker of Te Reo Maori.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in-depth guidance, advice, direction and support at clinical and cultural levels within Tawhirimatea inpatient unit, Regional Rehabilitation services, Te Korowai Whariki, MHAIDS
  • Maintain the Kawa and Kaupapa of the service and provide guidance to mental health services on issues relating to Tikanga Maori
  • Work collaboratively with the team to achieve goals and objectives

Requirements
  • Highly motivated Maori cultural leader
  • Knowledge of Tikanga and ability to maintain the Kawa and Kaupapa of the service
  • Proficient speaker of Te Reo Maori
  • Able to work independently and/or as part of a team
  • Foster good relationships, leadership and decision-making skills
  • Ability to motivate and influence the practice of others
