The purpose of the social work role is to provide specialist social work assessments, interventions, and intensive support for clients of all ages, promoting and facilitating their highest potential for functional independence.
The Social Worker position at Bay of Islands Hospital involves both inpatient and community-based work.
About the Team/Service/Location Bay of Islands Hospital, located in Kawakawa, provides care to the people of the Bay of Islands and the Mid North.
The 20-bed hospital offers comprehensive medical and paediatric services.
Health Social Work plays a key role in the multidisciplinary team, supporting whanau throughout their health journey.
Join our dynamic and supportive team, where social work processes are effectively used to ensure quality health social work services are provided to Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora - Te Tai Tokerau clients/families/whanau, all while upholding professional practice standards.
About You Key requirements of the role include:
Social Work qualification recognised by the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board "NZSWRB"Current registration and APC - NZSWRBCurrent Full NZ drivers' LicenceExperience working with individuals and families with diverse needs that can be translated into a health environmentDemonstrated experience in social work processes, theories, and conceptsProven conflict resolution skillsWhile not essential, experience working in a multi-disciplinary health setting with a diverse workforce and/or 2 years post-graduate experience is desirable.
Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Working for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
