**Mo te turanga - About the role**

The role of the qualified and registered Housing Social Worker position is to deliver a professional, empathetic, and effective service to people and families needing long term sustainable accommodation and advance the mission of The Salvation Army.

With skills, planning and purposeful action, you will support people to find a home and neighbourhood in which they will build the future of Aotearoa. This is an exciting opportunity to join a hard working team with a commitment to supporting whanau, and to work with a long-standing social service provider partnering with the community to tackle homelessness.

**He korero mou - About you**:

- Proven relevant Social Work experience of at least two years
- Holds a recognised Social Work Degree Qualification or equivalent
- Fully registered with the Social Work Registration Board
- Clean full driver's license
- Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand
- Strong relationship building
- Pervious or current experience in transitional housing would be advantageous
- Ability to understand and relate to people from diverse backgrounds and who are experiencing hardship, trauma and/or mental unwellness
- Role modelling commitment to engage and journey with people, providing support for personal responsibility and motivation to achieve own goals
- Maintains a high level of professional practice recognising the dignity, and individuality of clients
- Computer literate including Teams, Outlook and Office 365
- Able to relate to people with sensitivity, care and patience
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills
- A strong understanding of, and a heart for, social justice issues
- Ability to work to targets and deadline
- Ability to work proactively, problem solve and meet multiple demands
- Strong cultural competency, with the ability to work from a bicultural perspective

**This is a permanent full-time role 40hrs, per week.**

The starting salary for this role is likely to fall between $68k and $102k
