Our client stands as the biggest Metal recycler in the World and the largest in New Zealand. They are a leading metal recycling company with crushing plants in Auckland and Christchurch, and a network of 9 drop-off sites spanning the landscapes of New Zealand. Committed to environmental sustainability, they are on a mission to revolutionise the recycling industry and make a lasting impact on the world.

**About the Role**:
The plants run 2 shifts - Morning for reactive maintenance on the plant and preventative maintenance on mobile assets. Afternoon, preventative maintenance on the plant. You will have shift supervisors, with teams of required trades.

This can be a hands-on role When the plant is down there is a collaborative all hands-on deck spirit. You must be willing to assist your team of professionals with fault finding and or repair.

**Key Duties**
- Spearhead engineering initiatives and strategies to optimize efficiency and sustainability.
- Lead and inspire a talented engineering team spread across multiple locations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
- Oversee the maintenance and performance of the crushing plants.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational processes to enhance overall efficiency.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and the integration of new technologies in the recycling processes.
- Ensure all engineering activities adhere to environmental and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies to maintain compliance with industry standards.

**About You**:

- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Proven experience in a leadership role within the recycling or heavy engineering industry.
- Project management skills with a track record of successful execution.
- Knowledge of metal recycling processes and equipment.
- Flexibility to ensure balance of production and maintenance requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, MEX, SAP or similar preventive maintenance planning software
