**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

Reporting to the General Manager - Network Optimisation you will lead a team dedicated to ensure that our fleet is operated and maintained to the highest levels of safety, efficiency, and profitability.

We want someone who has a track record in large-scale fleet management, implemented and delivered to a strategic plan, excels in fleet maintenance and performance optimization to support the company's operational objectives, and has the highest level of service delivery to our customers as a top priority.

Other responsibilities will include:

- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimise equipment downtime and increase operational readiness.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams nationally and external service providers to implement SLA’s and service agreements to prioritize repairs, inspections, and servicing activities.
- Oversee the procurement, deployment, and disposal of fleet assets in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement comprehensive fleet management strategies to optimize asset utilization, minimize downtime, and reduce operating costs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices governing fleet operations, including vehicle safety, emissions, and roadworthiness.
- Relationship management - equipment suppliers, maintenance providers, insurance vendors etc
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of fleet supervisors, maintenance coordinators, and administrative staff.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

We are looking for a strong leader and key decision maker with experience in negotiations with external suppliers to source fleet at the best price and quality in respect to company policy. You will also need experience in building business cases, complete cost analysis on asset running costs and making decisions regarding types of vehicles to acquire to satisfy business demands such as present & future configuration requirements, business strategy and fleet emissions requirements.

Additionally, you will have:

- Experience in managing specification and running cost and ability to accurately forecast and report on Maintenance costs.
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining clear priority on task allocation & attention to detail.
- Excellent commercial and financial acumen, including cost modelling and reporting.
- Experience in acquisitions and disposals of fleet and have knowledge of relevant law and legislation.
- Demonstrate the ability to work and collaborate effectively in and across teams.
- Mechanical background or Engineering background, with experience of working in an operational capacity.
