You will be a senior leader within Defence Estate and Infrastructure's Assets and Environment group. You will be responsible for the management of asset services and sustainability and provide leadership for technical specialists, including energy, water, utilities, horizontal and vertical infrastructure, engineering, sustainability, architecture and other built asset disciplines.
You will set the high-level strategy on asset and design standards that are critical to mitigating risk and ensuring the ongoing ability of NZDF to use infrastructure to support Defence outputs. You will also lead the work programme for asset management maturity and alignment with ISO 55001.
You can choose to work primarily from Wellington CBD or Auckland CBD. Once you have undergone training and are up to speed, there is the option of working from home one-two days a week. Occasional domestic travel is required so you will need a Class 1 Full Driver's Licence.

We are looking for an energetic people leader with proven leadership experience developing high performing teams of specialists. You will have experience with horizontal and vertical infrastructure services, sustainability, asset management and assurance. You will be methodical in assurance and risk management for horizontal and vertical infrastructure and sustainability.

**The ideal person for this role will have the following**:

- Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Systems thinking and strategy / policy development experience.
- An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the relevant property legislation, including the Building Act 2004, Resource Management Act 1991 (and its replacements) and Health and Safety at Work Act 2016.
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
- Experience with ISO 55001 alignment, and similar asset management frameworks, is desirable.
