**Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi - About the Role**

The Supported Learner programmes within the Foundation Team offer a variety of full-time programmes (assessed) and part-time courses (non-assessed) for students with intellectual/learning disabilities; incorporating programmes such as the New Zealand Certificate in Skills for Living for Supported Learners and the New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills. Students are supported and challenged to develop skills and knowledge that will advance their educational and employment pathway. This includes work specific skills as well as social skills and self-awareness that are critical for successful integration in the workplace and community situations. The programmes/courses are delivered by a small highly skilled and dedicated team of academic and support staff.

- A skilled practitioner in the disability sector (tertiary qualified)
- Proven skills for supporting learners with challenging behaviours
- Effective communication skills with learners, whānau, caregivers, agencies
- Proven ability to work cooperatively in a team situation
- Capability to develop and write delivery resources and assessments
- Vision, innovation and a commitment to facilitating own and others' learning.
- Capable of supporting students to achieve their learning outcomes.
- The ability to develop and implement flexible teaching and learning methods, including the use of learning technologies
- Time management skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently administer, organise and co-ordinate activities and meet deadlines.
- Engagement with assessment and feedback processes.
- Teaching experience in the foundation areas.
- Digital literacy including - competence using a computer (including Microsoft office products)
- Effective communication with a diverse range of others, at all levels within and outside the organisation
