**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and Hauora Maori Service colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

The Principal Advisor, Quality & Risk leads the risk management function within the Office of the Regional Wayfinder and provides internal quality and risk management and reporting for Commissioning within the region. This role will work closely together with the national team, sharing common systems, standards and processes of quality & risk management.

**This role is based in the Central Region, which is made up of Mid-Central, Whanganui, Capital & Coast Hutt Valley (Wellington Region), Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa. You will need to be based in the region. Your location can be discussed at interview stage.**

- Significant experience developing, implementing or leading risk management systems and processes
- Experience In providing support and training in the management of risk and the use of risk management systems
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences
- Experience in the development and presentation of well-articulated, unambiguous and robust advice, papers and reports
- A proven ability to use data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities, to influence and guide organisational and system-level decision making
- Previous experience working in government and a thorough understanding of the machinery of government
- Experience developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples groups
