He angitūtanga | About the role
This is a newly created role for a skilled Data and Information Governance Lead to join our team to drive strong data governance; you will play a critical role in establishing, coordinating and maintaining our data governance framework. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, and security of our data and information assets while fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organisation and lead initiatives to improve data quality, information management and accessibility.
You will partner with cross functional teams and a wider range of stakeholders including senior leaders, scientists, researchers to define data and information governance practices and data quality metrics.
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement comprehensive data governance policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Coordinate and be the driving force behind data and information stewardship and governance committees to foster continuous improvement in organisational data and information maturity.
- Take ownership of our data catalogue and information asset register, supporting the organisation to get value from them.
- Monitor and audit data and information management practices to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to governance policies.
- Provide training and support to staff on data and information governance best practices and tools.
- Act as the point of contact for data and information governance inquiries and support data and information lifecycle management.

If you have the following, we are keen to hear from you;
- Understanding of data and information management and governance principles, including master data management, data standards, data quality management, ethics, integrity, and security.
- An understanding of IT tools and software commonly used in information and data management, governance and use, including data analysis and visualisation tools and platforms, ECMs, data and information governance and cataloguing tools.
- Skills to develop and deliver training programmes and materials, along with strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams and communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in data management tools and technologies.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in data analysis, data science, information management, a related area, or equivalent knowledge.

The salary range for this position is $92,450 to $116,985 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
