**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**:
Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has an exciting opportunity for a curious and future-focused Advisor Data and Insights to join our Data Strategy and Governance team. This is an opportunity to work in a rewarding and supportive environment, with a collaborative and inclusive team that enjoys learning, fun and achieving great things together.

In this role you will be responsible for supporting initiatives and projects that enhance MBIE’s overall data governance, including building strong foundations, controls, standards and practices for robust, safe and transparent data. You’ll provide support and guidance on complex and emerging data opportunities and challenges as well as contribute to the government data system and MBIE’s other partnerships. Working alongside a growing team of experts, you’ll get your hands on everything from new enterprise cloud data governance tools to helping to shape the ethical use of data and algorithms.

You will be a natural relationship manager, with an ability to engage and support staff to help embed data stewardship and culture across MBIE. You’ll be comfortable working with a wide variety of stakeholders, decision-makers and business groups. You will have a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement and generating new ideas and ways of doing things.

- Understanding of the evolving data system and the role of data-enabled insights
- Experience in data governance, data management, data insights or a related area
- Ability to use strategic thinking to identify what is important in the medium and long term and system thinking to see issues in the wider context
- Ability to introduce new ways of looking at problems and adopt creative new approaches
- Experience of working with diverse stakeholder groups to develop, support and implement people centred solutions
- The ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and to develop trust and credibility with senior managers, staff and key internal and external stakeholders
- Previous public sector experience is preferred
- Exceptional teamwork and collaborative abilities and a willingness to share knowledge and expertise with others
