**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
Data & Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance is a cornerstone of Auckland Transport's (AT) data strategy. The Data & AI Governance Manager plays a crucial role in facilitating communication between data ownership and stewardship functions within AT, leading AI governance across the enterprise, and linking to internal governance functions.
This key role involves coordinating data stewards, ensuring a delivery focus, driving standardisation, and resolving or escalating data-related issues and concerns. It spans the ethical, business, and technical facets of data and analytics governance. Additionally, the role ensures that AT's various AI initiatives, delivered by different functions within the organisation, align with Auckland Transport's AI policy and ethics framework, and leads this coordination effort.
The role also serves as a key liaison to the programme delivery team regarding data and information architecture and works closely with key business partners to develop organisational capability in transitioning to a data-centric organisation.

You will to be resilient, a self-starter, confident, be able to deal with ambiguity, take a risk-based approach to policy and delivery and be able to analyse any given situation, make a decision, and implement it. You will also responsible for defining, maintaining our Data & AI policies and supporting the organisation to be compliant with them.
- At least 15 years' experience in the IT industry particularly in the Analytics and Data or Information centric fields
- At least 5-8 years of experience in AI, data governance, risk management, or a related field. This includes experience in building or maintaining risk programs and managing AI, security, privacy, or reliability risks
- Familiarity with AI governance frameworks such as NIST AI RMF (Risk Management Framework) or ISO 420012. Knowledge of FAIR-based risk methodologies is also beneficial
- Understanding of relevant data and information related regulations and knowledge of the security and privacy concerns of a local or central government agency
- Experience of implementing data & AI management and governance in a regulated environment, preferably local or central government.
- Experience of Artificial Intelligence technologies and risks associated with those and the required frameworks and guard rails for managing those risks
- Experience across systems integration, information management, data management and architecture, and multi data streams data warehousing environment
