Te āhua o te tūranga / About the role
MSD are moving to an improved client value aligned delivery model. This means aligning back-end delivery systems with front-end service delivery (via organisational aligned portfolios and value streams).
MSD is looking for experienced Agile Coaches to work at a Portfolio level to help Portfolio management mature their Portfolios towards their maturity goals. This also includes helping the Portfolio management understand what Agile is and how to operate in a scaled Agile (SAFe) environment.
You will report to the Director Enterprise Agile Practice for MSD and your work will align to organisational direction relating to the improvement of our system of delivery. You will help Portfolio Owners understand their journey towards Business Agility and support them to create and execute improvement plans towards that. Improvements will include those related to management thinking, outcomes focus, team design, metrics, process, delivery excellence, practices, tools, and continuous improvement. You will provide training, coaching, and mentoring to the agile community and support MSD Agile community events such as Communities of Practice, Training/Education Clinics, and other learning opportunities. You will also provide advice, guidance, direction, and support to the Scrum Lead community on the Portfolio.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako / Skills and experience

**To be successful in this role you will have the following**:

- Experience as an Agile Coach in a SAFe environment
- Have a sound understanding of Agile concepts to help others understand the why behind the practices
- Experience with Scrum, Kanban, and other Agile frameworks
- Ability to deliver training courses to groups
- Ability to coach teams and their leaders in the values/principles of Agile
- You may be required to perform Scrum Lead duties from time to time as needed, mucking in, in a collaborative way
- You'll be an experienced facilitator at different levels across the Portfolio (at times this may include team level)
- Experience transitioning teams from traditional ways of working to Agile
- Experience coaching Senior Leaders, Product Managers, Product Owners and Scrum Leads to align with agile ways of working
- Excellent relationship, facilitation, and communication skills - ability to lead, influence and secure the right outcomes for our people in a highly complex environment
- Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Visual Management boards
- Ideally, you'll have an Agile coaching certification
- Not essential, but desirable if you are Certified SAFe SPC
- An understanding of traditional delivery methods (e.g. waterfall) to better translate current world views to our new ways of working delivery models
- Dedicated commitment to achieving results with a transparent, inclusive, collaborative, and practical approach

Finally, you'll be part of a dedicated and supportive group of existing Agile Coaches to share knowledge, insights, and learnings.
