The Tokoroa Library is one of South Waikato’s community hubs; providing community programmes and outreach, after school and school holiday programmes, themed library activities and much more We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic library assistant to join our busy customer service team, playing a crucial role in delivering exceptional service and supporting the daily operations of our library.
**Te āheinga: The opportunity**
The library customer service team are tasked with providing an exceptional standard of end-to-end services by assessing and understanding the needs of customers, to produce the right solutions and advice. The Tokoroa library is an inviting and interactive space, with small, cohesive team who go above and beyond to assist our library customers with anything from writing a CV, joining the after school lego club, celebrating cultural events, or getting their hands on that new-release that they have been waiting for
This is a full time role, working 40 hours per week and will include some rostered Saturday’s. Full details of key responsibilities are available in the Job Description.
**Nga Kawenga me nga Mahi - Responsibilities and Duties**
- Greeting library customers and assisting with locating books, resources and materials, and providing information on library services and programmes.
- Supporting customers with solutions to a range of information and digital queries.
- Undertaking library transactions, checking in and checking out of materials.
- Ensuring that library collections are presented attractively, well ordered and frequently refreshed.
- Creating a library space that is inviting and interactive.
- Coordinate the library customer service team coverage.
**He kōrero mōu: About you**
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Previous experience of more than two years in a library customer service role
- A relevant tertiary degree in library studies or information services or similar qualification.
- A passion for people and providing excellent customer service
- Enthusiasm, team commitment and outstanding relationship skills
- Ability to work collaboratively to support library initiatives and improve service delivery.
- A high degree of digital competency, numeracy and literacy
- Good administrative ability, accuracy and an eye for detail.
