**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**: MBIE’s Digital Policy Team seeks a Policy Professional to drive work on skills and talent for the digital tech sector, a key area of focus for the Digital Technologies Industry Transformation Plan (ITP). We are looking for either a Policy Advisor or Senior Policy Advisor for this area of the ITP.

Our team advises Ministers on digital issues and approaches to grow the digital technology sector to support New Zealand’s economic modernisation. Our top priority is the Digital Technologies ITP. The ITP is a sector development roadmap, with a longer-term focus, co-designed with the industry.

We lead several pieces of work to advance the ITP and to support sector growth: enhancing the skills and talent pipeline, growing export success for SaaS firms and game development studios, building greater Māori inclusion and enterprise, and telling our Tech Story. We are looking for someone to work with a Principal Policy Advisor to progress our busy and wide-ranging work programme on digital tech skills and talent.
Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required

This work suits a motivated policy professional with strong systems-thinking skills and project management experience. Our work is collaborative with multiple stakeholders, and interpersonal strengths and relationship management skills are a must. We are looking for someone who wants to expand their experience into what is a fast-moving and future-oriented policy area.

**Ideally you will have**:

- Experience leading policy projects within central government
- Knowledge or interest in policy development disciplines and processes
- Strong stakeholder relationship building, influencing and engagement skills to gain the cooperation and commitment of others, inside and outside government
- Experience in translating policy design into implementation and operational delivery
- Capability or interest in working with Ministers, senior public service officials, internal and external stakeholders
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in public policy context
- Passion for coaching others to develop their policy skills and take their careers to the next level
- Experience or interest in these policy areas: education and training, skill development, employment and workforce.
