**About you**:

- We are looking for a Regional Hazards Advisor to join the Regional Resilience team in the Integrated Catchment Management Directorate.
- Ideally someone with a coastal processes, hazards or management focus, but not a requirement.
- Understands key concept of natural hazards, risk, resilience especially how to address community awareness and climate change.
- Be a team player.

**Qualifications**:
Essential Tertiary qualification (or equivalent) relevant to the management of natural hazards or emergency management.

Desirable M.Sc qualification relevant to the management of natural hazards, specifically coastal hazards.

**Experience**:

- This is a role suited for someone starting a career in natural hazard, risk and resilience.

**About the role**:
This is an awesome and rare opportunity to join a high performing team with nationally recognised projects and programmes on resilience to natural hazards and climate change. The Regional Resilience Team includes three core areas of:

- Emergency Management,
- Natural Hazards, Risk and Resilience
- Flood and hydrology modelling

The well-regarded team can offer the successful applicant a wealth of mentoring opportunities within a range of resilience areas. The team works closely with other key WRC teams in science, policy, planning, consenting, CDEM and community engagement. We also work closely with Local Authorities on specific community projects and providing leadership and guidance.

The role will enable the person to make a real and measurable positive contribution to enhancing resilience across the Waikato Region as well as opportunities to influence at a national level.

**Details about the programme of work**:
To participate in regional hazards and emergency management activity in the following key project areas:

- Support development, management and integration of regional hazard, risk and resilience information.
- Collaborate with Regional Resilience Team and projects
- Provide general support on Regional Resilience focused projects from other WRC teams.
- Member of Regional Flood Response Team.
- Member of Oil Spill Response Team.
