These full-time positions are permanent roles and will best suit proactive and motivated GIS graduates with 1-2 years GIS experience (Spatial Intelligence Analyst) or those with 3-5 years of experience with GIS and an advanced GIS education or skillset (Senior Spatial Intelligence Analyst).
Salary ranges for the roles are $68,781 to $93,056 (Spatial Intelligence Analyst), and $92,073 to $124,570 (Senior Spatial Intelligence Analyst), depending on skills and experience.

Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
In joining our focussed Spatial Intelligence team, you will work with our internal customers across the Ministry by providing spatial data analysis to inform on a range of organisation delivery decisions. You will develop spatial models, undertake imagery analysis, assist in developing spatial tools, and provide sound advice involving a variety of themes, e.g. freshwater, sustainable fisheries, nationwide responses, biosecurity readiness and response, and food safety. You will also get the chance to get involved in large new spatial initiatives across the Ministry for which you will bring your experience and ideas.
As a key member of the Spatial Intelligence team, you will have the opportunity to lead projects of national significance making a real difference to New Zealand.

**Core responsibilities for the role(s)**:

- Build and sustain positive relations with internal and external stakeholders
- Develop spatial business requirements and effectively translate these requirements into meaningful outcomes
- Participate actively in GIS projects as assigned, including undertaking planning, delegations, and time estimates
- Develop, manage, and source GIS data required to support intelligent spatial analysis for the Ministry
- Contribute towards quality assurance and practice your passion for continuous improvement through efficient and effective use of technology in all areas of your responsibilities
- Contribute to optimisation of standards and protocols to ensure a seamless way of working for users and customers
- Provide peer reviews of both internal and external spatial products.
- Coach and mentor colleagues through technical and non-technical situations

**To be successful in this role you will offer**:

- Skills in the use of the ESRI software suite including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Mobile Applications, ArcSDE, and ArcGIS Server
- Demonstrated advanced analytical skills in reviewing, recording and synthesising information from numerous sources to inform decision making
- Demonstrated ability to respond to business requirements with a technical and customer focus
- The ability to interpret legislations and regulations to manage and analyse spatial data
- The ability to gather, organise, and communicate information including risks, issues, and potential solutions
- The ability to carry out independent thinking and decision making using prescribed frameworks and rulesets
- Complete assigned work to time and quality expectations
- Operate independently and manage workloads effectively
- Actively partake in our supportive team environment with openness, empathy and tolerance and recognize the value of collaboration
- Be reliable, self-motivated, open minded, ready to lend a hand and a good sport.
