**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We are on the lookout for a Professional Teaching Fellow to join our Engineering Science and Biomedical Engineering team. You will undertake high quality teaching in the areas of biomedical engineering, engineering science, advanced mathematical modelling and computational techniques; to teach into the Engineering Science and Biomedical Engineering undergraduate specialisations; to lead, plan and deliver lectures, laboratories, tutorials and the assessment of students, to assist with the administration of taught programmes and to contribute to the activities of, and to perform service roles for, the Department of Engineering Science and Biomedical Engineering.

Additional responsibilities of the role include:

- Develop, in collaboration with colleagues, curricula and pedagogy for the delivery of courses in engineering science.
- Coordinate and administer teaching laboratory activities in consultation with other colleagues and laboratory technicians.
- Engage in Service to the Department of Engineering Science and Biomedical Engineering, the Faculty of Engineering and the University of Auckland, e.g., Student Field Trips, Community Outreach (and other duties as required by the Head of Department).

This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, on a permanent contract. The salary range for this role is $95,000 - 105,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**
- PhD in Biomedical Engineering or related area.
- BE(Hons) undergraduate degree in Engineering Science, Biomedical Engineering or related areas, including undergraduate courses in Computational Techniques and Advanced Mathematical Modelling.
- Have experience teaching undergraduate Biomedical Engineering Instrumentation courses.
- Demonstrated ability to use various teaching techniques and technologies to deliver an excellent student experience.
- Have developed innovations in teaching and learning to improve student learning and understanding.
- Be able to teach the first-year undergraduate course ENGGEN 140 (Fundamentals of Engineering in Society) and related material.
- Be able to teach Part II and Part III undergraduate courses in Engineering Science and Biomedical Engineering, including BIOMENG 241, BIOMENG 261.
- Proven ability to interact well with undergraduate students.
- Ability to create and maintain an outstanding teaching and learning environment.
- Good written and communication skills.
- Ability to innovate in the delivery of taught materials.
