The Doctor of Clinical Psychology Programme is located within the School of Psychology. Our clinical psychology training is based on the Scientist Practitioner Model with the philosophy which emphasises the value of research as well as recognises that existing research knowledge must be adapted to the needs of any client as well as to the distinctiveness of the Aotearoa/New Zealand context.

Our teaching reflects the commitment of the Clinical Staff, the School of Psychology and the University to tangata whenua in terms of the Treaty of Waitangi. It is expected that, when conducting assessments, formulations and treatment interventions, students consider these and other cultural, social, and economic origins of, and solutions to, mental health difficulties. **Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

This is a part-time 0.4FTE (16 hours per week), permanent position.
Remuneration is at PTF4; $127,399 pro rata 0.4FTE

The School of Psychology and Clinical Psychology Programme recognises the importance of Māori psychology and training Clinical Psychologists who can appropriately meet the needs of Māori clients and communities in Aotearoa/New Zealand. The Clinical Programme is committed to increasing Māori student numbers to 50% of the cohort in order to meet workforce shortages. Accordingly, we are working to develop and implement indigenous psychological knowledge, te reo, tikanga, and Mātauranga Māori within the Clinical Psychology curriculum and clinical placements.

The purpose of this position is to support the successful progress of Māori students through the programme with a focus on applied clinical practice and teaching. The Professional Teaching fellow will provide clinical supervision to students practicing in the Psychology Clinic, coordinate and teach in the Interview Skills course and assist in the coordination and liaison associated with 12-week community placements for Māori and other students. You will be expected to deliver the following:

- Design of teaching materials
- Teaching and Learning
- Assessment, marking and timely feedback
- Supervision of students in the clinic
- Effective communication and involvement with initiatives
- Leadership, including course coordination

Essential Qualifications and Knowledge include:

- PhD in Psychology/Doctor of Clinical Psychology
- Registration as a clinical psychologist in Aotearoa/NZ with a current practicing certificate.
- Supervision and Teaching experience
- Knowledge of the use of technologies to support learning and teaching; specifically, Microsoft Teams, Canvas, and Zoom.
- Over 5 Years’ experience as a Clinical psychologist
- Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching and improving student outcomes and experience

**He kōrero mōu | About you**
You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students. You will have knowledge, skills, and ability to use in therapy and teach Hui and Māori models of mental health for working with Māori whanau, as well as CBT, ACT, DBT and Third wave cognitive therapies. A good understanding and awareness of process issues in supervision and therapy practice is essential.
