**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

Health Promotion is most effective when working at the system, environment and policy level alongside communities. Health promotion is interested in providing support to communities that enables them to take action on issues and topics that directly impact on them.

We have a permanent, part-time (0.6FTE) opportunity available to join the Health Promotion Directorate as a** Senior Advisor - Mental Wellbeing. **This role is critical in enabling the delivery of the NPHS strategic agenda for Pae Ora (Healthy Futures).

The primary purpose of the role is to be responsible for supporting the implementation, development and delivery of strategic projects within Health Promotion with an emphasis on Oranga Hinengaro. This primary organizational impact of the position is to successfully implement programmes of delivery to achieve the Health Promotion, National Public Health Service Business Plan.

**Mōu | About you**

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A relevant tertiary qualification, and/or equivalent experience - 5-7 years preferably working in public health / mental health / maternal wellbeing
- Strong experience, knowledge and skills in relation to working with Māori and Pasifika people/groups/communities
- Proven experience in contract management, including the use of planning tools, a working knowledge of the government procurement rules, and ability to work with a range of suppliers
- Experience in the development of operational policy as a core health promotion function
- Some leadership experience, that may include having designed and managed a project of work and resources
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including provision of written and oral communication across cultures and across a broad sector of organisations and individuals
