**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The primary purpose of the role is to:

- provide policy, analytical and service design advice to the Group Manager and project teams
- lead the translation of strategic policy into high quality operational policy and implementation of new initiatives.
- design and develop systems, methodologies, tools, guidance, and planning instruments required to translate policy into operational practice.

As a member of the Student Placement System Project team, this role has shared accountability for the development of a coordination infrastructure, to enable coordination across the health system. This includes a digital tool and hub to support system users.

The key skills and experience we are looking for include (but not limited to):

- Written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles
- Experience in developing and advising on complex planning that leads to the successful implementation of important initiatives
- Significant experience in working knowledge of public sector processes including providing advice to Ministers desirable
- Proven ability to operate and get buy-in within a sector with complex stakeholder interests
- Experience in designing work programmes and project planning
- Political savvy, with an understanding how issues play out and what is important to key stakeholders and the Government of the day
- Ability to form clear positions on advice in an ambiguous environment
- Self-motivation, passion, and persistence in challenging frameworks to influence positive change with good judgement
- Health sector experience desirable
