**About the role**

The Lead Transfusion Nurse Specialist is tasked with leading and managing a national team of experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists in Transfusion Medicine, to deliver the highest standard of evidence-based/researched clinical nursing practice for all aspects of the transfusion medicine processes in Aotearoa, New Zealand. In this role, you will be supporting the Director of Patients Services & Care and the Chief Nurse to deliver on NZBS Statement of Intent and Nursing & Donor Technician strategy.

This is a new role and provides a great opportunity to work within the Clinical Services team to support the Transfusion Nurse Specialist team to work within the Clinical Governance Framework, to further develop and grow the service. The donors, patients, and whanau are at the centre of care for transfusion medicine issues and this role involved collaborative work with various clinical teams and agencies across NZBS and Aotearoa, New Zealand, in the delivery of safe, efficient and timely service delivery.

Supporting Te Whatu Ora/Health NZ District Hospital staff as well the wider health network is pivotal to the success of the service and positive donor, patient, and whanau outcomes. You will be responsible and accountable for leading and managing the nursing team to drive and improve the efficiencies and effectiveness in quality processes and education for staff across the health sector, including relevant academic institutions.

**About you**

We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, professional, and experienced nurse leader who is ready to step up and advance their career and support a group of dedicated senior Transfusion Nurse Specialists to work closely with the Clinical Director of Patient Services and Care, and Transfusion Medicine Specialists.

You must be keen to help us further develop the service and keen to extend your own skills. You will be proactive in leading the team to work calmly under pressure and be flexible and adaptable to emerging clinical needs and advancement. You will be a highly skilled communicator experienced in working with a wide variety of different health professionals in multidisciplinary teams. Excellent organisational and critical thinking skills are essential, as is experience as a senior nurse. Advanced skills in managing, teaching and writing are essential.

This is a national role and to meet the needs of the service, flexibility is required in order to fully support the team. This role can be based out of one of any of our regional offices in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch or Dunedin, however planned travel between NZBS sites will be required. You will be supported in project management skills by our experienced Business Improvement team and our Quality & Regulatory Affairs department with regulatory processes. Support will also be provided to you around information technology and financial systems as the Team Leader. There will be opportunities to attend relevant national forums and conferences.

Salary starting from $118,530 - $130,002 (Raising to $122,086 - $133,902 in April 2024) depending on skills, registration, and experience.
