**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Starship Respiratory Department provides specialist respiratory care for children across New Zealand with complex or severe lung problems. Specialist care is provided in conjunction with a local general paediatric specialist.

An opportunity has risen for a Nurse Specialist in Respiratory Services with a portfolio in bronchiectasis. The Nurse Specialist cares for tamariki with bronchiectasis across the Auckland region working to reduce barriers to accessing health services and guide and empower whanau to manage their disease to live their best life.

The Nurse Specialist is an expert in assessment skills; diagnostic reasoning, knowledge of management options and monitoring underpin practice. This role has specialist knowledge of complex conditions which is central to the role. Case management and coordination of the patient and their whānau with health professionals and inpatient areas is integral.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**

To be successful you will:

- Have NZ Nursing Registration with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand
- Have Postgraduate certificate/diploma in specialty nursing practice
- Have minimum level 4 practice
- Demonstrate knowledge of nursing professional development issues
- Have a Masters degree in nursing or health related area (Desired)
- Have at least 5 years of nursing experience
- Have experience in a Paediatric, whanau centred care
