**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse with expert advanced wound care management, in depth knowledge of Peripheral Vascular Disease and management of Diabetes Mellitus patients to join a multidisciplinary team. This role will manage a complex caseload of patients, from those at risk of Diabetic and Peripheral Vascular Disease complications through to those with complex diabetic foot wounds. This includes delivering education and support that promotes partnership in care and self-management, prevention and early detection of cardiovascular risk factors and diabetes complications.

Orientation will be provided which will include study time to enable you to gain the knowledge needed to work within this specialty.
This Nurse Specialist role will also be involved in research and presentation at a National and International level. In addition, the Nurse Specialist will share specialist skills and knowledge with Vascular Registered nurses within the ADHB and alongside the SMO Clinical lead will provide education to Primary health care providers and Locality Teams within Community and LTC Directorate. The post holder will be involved in influencing the strategic plan for management and service delivery, whilst being fully engaged in the cross-organisational work in the Auckland Region and Northland, GP practices and other organisations as appropriate.
They will promote effective communication across primary and secondary care interface to ensure seamless, equitable, quality service is provided for all people with diabetic foot ulcers.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**
You already have vascular experience or recent surgical experience with expertise in complex wound care, Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes. A registered nurse with a well-grounded clinical practice background is essential and you will be working towards a postgraduate certificate or diploma in specialty nursing practice. You are known for your patient focussed care; excellent communication; problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. You will be able to self-manage and prioritise your workload.
**Essential**:
- Current APC from the New Zealand Nursing Council
- Specialty Vascular knowledge and Advanced practice expertise.
- Postgraduate certificate or working towards a diploma in specialty nursing practice or towards completion of Master’s degree.
- Leadership and patient or client management skills
- Knowledge of quality improvement processes and principles
- Ability to facilitate and manage change at a local level
- Knowledge and understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi obligations in nursing practice.
- Knowledge of nursing professional development issues
