Head of Wholesale - HQ, Auckland
We’re looking for an innovator, a people-person with a growth mindset, for a recently established role of Wholesale Lead, joining our close-knit, fun, and high performing team. The key representative for Deadly Ponies internationally, you’ll manage, nurture and build important relationships with existing and new accounts including department stores and specialty stores, ensuring that Deadly Ponies is represented to the highest standards.
You’ll have a successful track record in establishing and maintaining wholesale accounts, achieving growth with a customer-first approach. As the Head of Wholesale, you will be charged with delivering an effective and efficient sales strategy that drives business growth in a key sales channel with plenty of potential.

THE ROLE
You’ll be responsible for leading, driving and delivering the strategy for our sales team ensuring growth targets are achieved each season. This is a great opportunity for either a Senior Account Manager looking to step up or a local Sales Manager with some experience in global markets.
You’ll be someone who can provide strategic advice to leadership teams and senior management on partnerships and brand category development and you will be expected to contribute to initiatives and development activities at a senior level.
As Head of Wholesale you will be responsible for:
The creation, management and growth of outstanding relationships with accounts, including department stores and specialty store partners, prospecting new clients in designated territories through the implementation of global sales strategies.
Create annual and seasonal sales budgets and strategy reports, with wholesale targets aligned to business growth expectations, based on an understanding of brand positioning through analysis and understanding of markets, clients and opportunities to maximise distribution and growth potential.
Lead, manage and motivate the sales team to deliver outstanding customer experiences and forecasted sales.
Lead all wholesale strategic and operational team initiatives including benchmarking and KPI development to consistently improve performance against set goals.
Manage sales appointments during key campaign periods, preparing all supporting collateral required.
Develop and present seasonal sales analysis for reporting back to the business including identification of future opportunities.
Oversee wholesale shipments, ensuring they proceed within any agreed delivery dates, taking corrective action as necessary and to communicate any delays or issues with orders to the relevant clients in a timely and proactive manner.
Monitor pricing, markdowns and commercial actions in order to prepare reports on logical pricing matrix for the market, at initial pricing stage.
Support and participate in range planning and pricing meetings to ensure the business is responsive to client feedback whilst maintaining growth.
Analyse sell-through and proactively lead initiatives and collaborations with our clients marketing teams to ensure reorders and brand ethos is properly communicated in stores.
Coordinate wholesale strategy in line with the eCommerce, retail and marketing strategy. Working closely with stakeholders to push key launches, seeding, sharing of marketing materials.
Develop and implement training packs and perform seasonal staff training sessions to develop product knowledge and promote Deadly Ponies culture.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
5+ years’ experience in a relevant sales role operating within a consumer facing retail service environment.
Results-driven with a demonstrable track record of previous success in delivering profitable revenue growth.
An excellent brand ambassador with great product & brand knowledge when representing Deadly Ponies at international and local showrooms and events.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to convert raw data from multiple sources into actionable insights.
Passion for retail and a strong understanding of best-practice customer service.
Excellent cross-functional leadership and project management skills.
Effective presentation skills, ability to communicate solutions to all-levels within the business.
Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, problem solving, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with the ability to use initiative.
Strong communication skills: listening, verbal, and written with a demonstrated experience engaging and influencing stakeholders.
