**Ko rātou | The organisation**

As a people-centric organisation, The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is committed to supporting and enabling New Zealanders. They work with partners across the country to provide social policy, income, employment, and housing support to individuals and communities of all backgrounds. They value diversity, inclusion, fun, and innovation, offering capability development and on-the-job training. Join their team to make a difference in the lives of New Zealanders.

MSD has one of the largest Information functions in central government. As part of the Organisational Assurance and Communication Group, they offer support and advice across Information Management, Security and Privacy domains. With a redesigned operating model, they have multi-disciplinary teams that focus on future needs, delivering in a SAFe Agile environment.

**Te tūranga | The role**

As the Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the Information Group's Portfolio work programme and advocating for the Information Group's priorities with the Ministry's Integrated Work Programme and Transformation Office. This position is a vital component of the Information Group's leadership team and requires you to develop and maintain high-level relationships within the organisation to ensure strategic value delivery and to negotiate the promotion of Information portfolio priorities in the context of MSD's strategic outcomes and operational responsibilities.

In this role, you will play a critical function in identifying risks and issues related to the delivery of Information shared services and act as an escalation point to address delivery risks and issues at the enterprise portfolio level. Moreover, you will provide guidance and thought leadership to the Information Group teams to foster the Group's Agile capability and support its objectives. You will also act as a core support role to the Information Group Directors and establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior stakeholders responsible for leading major work programmes.

You will be reporting directly to the General Manager of the Information Group and can expect a dynamic leader who has clarity of vision and is committed to supporting a high-performing team that contributes significantly to wider organisational objectives and building maturity.

**Nōu te rourou | What you will bring**
- Exceptional strategic thinking and service delivery skills, with the ability to develop high-quality reporting and analytical information that provides interpretation, insights, and guidance at an executive level.
- Demonstrated ability to influence leadership thinking, with experience in negotiating constructive outcomes in complex environments that have competing priorities.
- Proven decision-making experience and leadership demonstrated in coordinating and integrating projects, with the ability to see the "big picture" and understand the strategic context of projects.
- Proven depth of experience in the Agile Framework (SAFe), with a successful track record of fulfilling role responsibilities equivalent to a Release Train Engineer, Scrum Lead, or Agile Coach in large and complex organisations.
- A collaborative approach to problem-solving, with a focus on achieving strategic value delivery for the organisation.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify risks and issues related to Information functions and act as an escalation point to resolve delivery risks and issues at the enterprise portfolio level.

**Mōu | What’s in it for you?**
- Exciting career opportunities, on-the-job career development, secondments within the Ministry and to other government agencies, management support and leadership training.
- Benefits such as Visioncare, child-care assistance and other packages such as study assistance
- Health & Accident Insurance

**Whanonga pono | Core values**
- Manaaki - We care about the wellbeing and success of people.
- Mahi tahi - We work together, making a difference for communities.
- Whānau - We are inclusive and build a sense of belonging and place.

This is a significant opportunity to take a strategic and dynamic leadership role within the Information Group, make a significant impact on the organisation's strategic priorities, and collaborate with high-level stakeholders across the enterprise to deliver successful outcomes.
