- Are you a people leader with proven success in the delivery of complex portfolio plans?
- Are you passionate about leveraging digital technology to provide better experiences to a wide range of audiences?
About us
We are seeking an experienced portfolio manager to lead and further improve our All of Government Portfolio planning and governance capability. Our Public Service is being called upon to deliver a unified, seamless, and effective digital experience for all New Zealanders. As a member of the Te Kōtui Whitiwhiti - Digital Public Service Branch (DPS) you will help champion this change.
About the role
As an experienced leader in portfolio management, you will take the lead on developing a holistic view of the AoGSD Portfolio of products and services, our longer-term direction for the Portfolio, and a cohesive, integrated 12-18 month workplan.
As the Manager Portfolio, you will be responsible for a small but capable team of advisors who are responsible for the strategic direction and evolution of the Portfolio. You will work closely with other Managers in AoGSD to ensure the Portfolio remains relevant to our customers and the wider system.
**This multi-faceted and pivotal role involves**:
- Supporting the General Manager AoGSD to ensure performance and accountability measures are met.

- Introducing Product Lifecycle Management.
- Providing advice and guidance to AoGSD around commissioning product and service research, Business Cases and delivery plans.
- Leveraging insights to inform strategic and operational product and service decisions.
About you
- You will have extensive experience in the planning and governance of programmes of work, ideally in a digital product delivery and/or ICT commercial environment, including establishing and improving systems of governance. Ideally you will:
- Know how to develop an effective work programme for a multi-product/service environment.
- Bring a demonstrated understanding of how to lead and guide others through the development of programme plans, and product and service roadmaps.
- Have the capability to deliver valuable and relevant strategic advice.
- Possess good senior stakeholder skills and have the ability to manage complex and challenging relationships.
- Have significant experience in providing clear and relevant information to Governance Bodies and senior internal stakeholders.
- Be a collaborator, willing to work with and guide your peers, yet retain a strong voice of your own.
What we offer
- Exposure across government agencies with value driven interesting work.
- Ongoing support from teams within AoGSD and DPS, to encourage knowledge sharing, diversity of thought and challenging the status quo.
- A professional development ethos.
- A range of benefits, including access to discounted healthcare, subsidised school holiday programmes, allowance for vision and hearing care, and a variety of social committees and networks.
