**About you**:
- Ready to take on a role that doesn’t come up often, managing a team of spatial analysts and data management
- Someone who inspires confidence in leading work, is comfortable providing advice and making decisions to achieve results

- You have existing project management skills and experience that could be applied to the role.

**Qualifications**:
Relevant degree level qualification (desirably in GIS, geography, computer science or information technology)
**Experience**:
- At least 5 years’ experience in a GIS analyst role or 3 years in a similar role
- Proven knowledge and understanding of GIS Software, particularly with respect to (but not limited to) ArcGIS products operating in a SQL Server Spatial environment
- Project management and reporting experience
- Proven success at building relationships
- Ability to quickly learn how to operate technology solutions to be able to undertake cursory testing of their appropriateness without always relying on a third party
- Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
- Strategic and tactical thinking skills
**About the role**:
- Manage a team of data management and spatial analysts providing oversight and direction
- Co-ordinate the resolution of spatial information requests and undertaking monthly reporting
- Co-ordinate the regional contracts for imagery capture, overseeing the project manager, liaising with Co-Lab and the councils of the region
- Be the custodian for the organisation’s corporate spatial data and the business owner of the GIS Data Catalogue ensuring standards are met, and the metadata is reliable
- Support the delivery and growth of open data to the Waikato Data Portal
- Take part in the strategic direction setting for the section and the annual business planning
- Contribute to the Section’s leadership team
- Work with all the Section the staff as needed
- Develop and maintain relationships with other managers and staff across the organisation
- Maintain external stakeholder connections related to the work of the team, providing spatial information and data services, outputs, and advice.
