Transitioning Auckland's transport network on such a mammoth scale is no mean feat and we need a talented team to ensure we are up to this task.

The **Manager - Adaptation and Environment **reports to the Chief Scientist and leads the Adaptation and Environment team.

The purpose of this role is to be a specialist SME able to exhibit autonomy in their decision-making to guide and support AT to become a climate resilient organisation.

The role is a senior scientific role responsible for leading, managing and implementing all climate adaptation workstreams across AT business units, including suppliers.

The Manager will also be responsible for:

- oversight of ATs embodied emissions work,
- implementation of Hiikina te Wero actions,
- collection and management of the data required for environment andemissions reporting, and
- oversight of the data reporting work against the targets and objectives in the AT Sustainability Strategy

**Te Whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity**
- Providing specialist technical leadership and expert advice to internal and external stakeholders
- Review, interpret and analyse government and council policies and design corporate responses, balancing BAU operations with required business improvements / changes
- Preparing and presenting specialist climate science and technical material to Mana whenua, Local Boards, Council/AT Committees and AT ELT/Board.
- Proactively working with Auckland Council and other CCOs to ensure alignment of adaptation approaches.
- Managing agile teams to develop and implement adaptation decision making frameworks.
- Designing and leading relevant workstreams or initiatives to deliver on targets and objectives in the Sustainability Strategy.
- Preparing detailed work plans and programmes for financial review and funding of teams work
- Supporting the leadership of the Chief Scientist

**Ko koe tēnei | About you**
- 12+ yrs experience in transportation or public infrastructure / public utilities management.
- Detailed knowledge of climate change legislation and reporting requirements
- Extensive experience in business change management, across planning and operations.
- Desired:

- Risk management and financial reporting skills
- Honours (4 year) degree in engineering or physical sciences equivalent.
- Desired:

- Master's Degree / Post-graduate qualification in business operations or organisation management
- Professional membership of relevant industry organisation
