**Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team**

We are looking for a capable Senior Policy Analyst in the Adaptive Farming and Planning team, leading our data interoperability workstream. We need a proficient individual who can work with a high-performing team of internal and external stakeholders to craft a roadmap for data interoperability in the primary sector agritech ecosystem and bring it to life with agreed projects, deliverables etc.

The Adaptive Farming and Planning team has worked on a range of pressing and contemporary policy issues, initially including Regenerative Agriculture and Intensive Winter Grazing. The current focus is Integrated Farm Planning, which is Ministerial priority.

The Adaptive Farming and Planning team co-leads the Data Interoperability workstream of the Agritech Industry Transformation Plan. The workstream aims to improve levels of data interoperability for the primary sector’s digital ecosystem by identifying opportunities to align current and scoped solutions, as well as to identify gaps where new projects are needed.

The role therefore requires big picture oversight as well as the ability to explore and progress specific projects and activities contracted by Government, e.g. the IFP Accelerator Funded Farm Wallet. See link here:
**Required**:

- A collaborative approach and the ability to take initiative - e.g., pursuing opportunities that support the work programme goals as they arise
- Strong relationship management skills - can keep stakeholders on task
- Team player - there will be other colleagues across MPI working in this and related areas
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Adept at explaining complex technical work to non-technical audiences and comfortable providing advice to senior management and Ministers
- Project management skills (not necessarily formal project management qualifications)
- Familiar with and interested in the primary sectors and their challenges, how they are responding to those in general terms

Understanding of data and information governance is also very useful, along with knowledge and experience with digital management systems used by farmers and growers. Data analytics experience would suit, but is not essential.

If you have Industry Market Assurance Programmes awareness, knowledge of the regulations affecting farmers and growers, or any investment management experience, these will be welcomed and can be developed further in this role.
