*** What you’ll be doing...**

The Principal Network Engineer position will work with the GTS team on the expansion and support of Verizon's global enterprise network. This person will own the responsibility of working with Verizon engineers, project managers, and management to ensure that the Verizon GTS network expansion into the EMEA and APAC regions is properly architecture, implemented, and supported. The network expansion will include ensuring all IT data center and edge sites are implemented meeting all Verizon standards regarding architecture and compliance for their specific region. The following would be some of the daily tasks associated with this role:

- Work on a team of network architects, planners, project managers, engineers, and managers to successfully design and support the Verizon network infrastructure.
- Attend and contribute to all planning and design sessions for the expansion and support of the Verizon network.
- Perform as a technical mentor for existing network engineering team members.
- Act as a technical escalation point for NOC and Engineer personnel for any critical network issue as it relates to network performance and uptime.
- Develop technical implementation plans for the installation of all network equipment within the VZ GTS data center and VZ Edge site locations.
- Develop documentation to be used by NOC personnel for the purpose of troubleshooting and issue resolution for network related issues.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.
*** What we’re looking for...**

You’ll need to have:

- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in supporting global network infrastructures specifically in the areas of network routing, switching, firewalls, and WAN connectivity (e.g., circuits, VPNs).
- Experience in the architecture, design, and implementation of global networks that span multiple countries and regions.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

- A degree.
- Experience with firewall technology and supporting perimeter network security using technology platforms from Palo Alto and Checkpoint.
- Experience supporting and implementing network platforms (including routers and switches) from Cisco, Aruba, and Extreme.
- Experience with documenting network infrastructures to be used by operation support groups. This includes network diagrams and troubleshooting documentation.
- Excellent communication skills.
