We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer who is proactive, capable, and forward-looking, to join the Christchurch City Council.The Council's Digital function plays a pivotal role in our organisation through its range of information and technology services, supporting the delivery of the Council's services to the community.
There is virtually nothing that happens in our organisation that does not depend in some way on IT.
Our culturally diverse organisation aims to support the local community and help to make Christchurch a safer and better place to live.About the role | Ko te mahi neiIn addition to working on day-to-day tasks supporting and improving our current environment, you will be deploying the latest and best technology to future-proof our network.
We are in the process of an extensive refresh of our Cisco infrastructure, and you will be given the opportunity to be part of the team shaping the Council's data network for years to come.This role will involve planning, configuring, deploying, and supporting all aspects of the Council's Data Network environment, and will play an integral part within the wider CCC Technology & Support Services team.
You will deliver project outcomes to the Council, and support day-to-day operations as well as play your part in ensuring that service and availability targets are met.
You will also be responsible for efficient network administration, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to continuous process improvements.Minimum QualificationsPrevious experience as a Senior Network EngineerA tertiary qualification based on IT or a similar technical disciplineExtensive years' plus experience in layer 2 and layer 3 networking, including Enterprise WiFi networksIn-depth knowledge and experience of Cybersecurity, and have worked with multiple firewall vendors' productsAn ability to stand back from the day-to-day work at times, for example, be involved in network monitoring and management, capacity planning, and making sure service levels are always metDeep Cisco IOS knowledge and good familiarity with other vendors' toolsets such as packet-level analyser tools, network management platforms, and network asset management toolsWhat's in it for you?
