**He angitūtanga**: About the Role
As our next Senior Ranger, Heritage and Visitors, you will support our busy Operations Manager in the planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting of our district work programme. The main purpose of this role is to lead the thinking behind how we will work towards achieving our conservation goals. This includes work scheduling and managing visitor assets across the Auckland Inner Islands district. This also includes but is not exclusive to managing the Islands' infrastructure; huts, tracks, power, sewage, water, bridges, platforms.
You will have experience managing several small projects at once and maintain excellent working relationships internally and with external contractors.
You will be able to access whether the work needs to be carried out by one of our rangers or whether we need external specialist to complete the work in a timely and cost-effective manner. This does mean you will get the opportunity to travel out to the islands to assess any work that needs to be undertaken.
Our district is home to a suite of diverse recreational assets including the stunning Rangitoto summit track, Motuihe campground, the Tiritiri Matangi Bunkhouse and track network, beautiful coastal walks on Kawau Island as well as the historic Mansion House.
We are passionate about working collaboratively with our Treaty partner and wider community to understand and care for what they value most.

We are looking for a committed team player who is open stepping out of their main area of responsibilities to support the wider team with the overall district work program.

**Required**:

- The ability to translate priorities into operational work plans
- Understanding of infrastructure and how to project manage
- The ability to work in true partnership with others across DOC and external stakeholders including local whānau, hapū and iwi;
- A strong focus on continuous improvement and the ability to enhance organisational performance.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire those around you;
- Experience managing budgets

**Desired**:
Knowledge of operational field work in one or more of the following areas:

- Management of facilities, amenities and sites, particularly one or all of the following: power, sewage and water.
- Visitor experience and risk management;
- Construction and maintenance of sites and assets;
- Cultural competency and/or experience with working with mana whenua is desirable;
- Experience with SAP, managing different business systems.

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory - this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment. The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000
