**- Are you enthusiastic about Regional Parks?**
**- Be part of a talented team**
**- One permanent role and four fixed term roles, all fulltime.**
Our regional parks are much loved and treasured by the people of Auckland and visitors alike, receiving up to 8 million visits a year. They represent the iconic landscapes of the Auckland region and are home to many rare and threatened ecosystems and native species. For many of us, they are places that inspire and define us; places where we seek tranquillity and respite in nature, or more active recreation in the bush or on the beach.
We are on the hunt for four Park Rangers to join our Northern Sector Regional Parks Team based at Wenderholm.
**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
As a Park Ranger, you will be responsible for enabling safe and enjoyable outdoor recreation and education experiences in regional park settings, while conserving and protecting natural and cultural heritage resources.
As a Ranger, you will be faced with a fantastic opportunity to support the values that make our organisation and parks world class.
You will work closely within a tight knit team working across the Northern Sector parks, contributing to the regional park operations which include asset maintenance, events, farm outcomes, land management and visitor needs. You will be playing a vital role in the values of the regional parks by supporting both formal and informal education and recreation programmes.
You will establish strong relationships with the Parks’ stakeholders including mana whenua, supporting volunteers and the wider community.
There are 5 positions open - **one permanent and three fixed term** - 1 x twelve months, 1 x six months and 2 x five months. All positions are full time roles working to a variable roster, which will include working weekends and public holidays and when rostered responding to on call situations outside normal working hours.
**He kōrero mōu: About you**
The role focuses on management and maintenance of park assets, customer service, recreation provision and ensuring park facilities meet our visitor needs as well as managing our natural and historical resources. This will afford you the opportunity to develop strong practical and communication skills.
You will need to be someone with a 'can do' attitude to make things happen while having a sound practical aptitude in this field. Being proactive, approachable and motivated will see you perform your job to your best. You also need to enjoy working with customers, stakeholders and volunteers in a range of environments and conditions.
You will ideally have previous experience in customer services and a strong park management background. You will preferably have a recreation, parks, tourism or land management qualification. It is essential that you have a clean full New Zealand drivers’ licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle.
**Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer.**
While focusing on our customers, community and stakeholders, this role offers great job variety in a stunning and unique work environment.
You will have opportunity to make a difference in protecting these regional taonga for future generations and contribute to the ongoing development of these spaces to meet the recreational, conservation and intrinsic values for the people of Tāmaki Makaurau.
