**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
We are looking for a Senior Park Ranger to join the Western Regional Parks Ranger team This role has a wide scope of duties, programmes & initiatives, including but not limited to increasing the standard of provision of recreation for visitors to our Regional Parks.
Day-to-day you could expect to:
- Build and develop meaningful relationships with the community & stakeholders
- Promote the sector's provision of recreational opportunities
- Provide leadership for a team of park rangers
- Contribute to our vision of a world class Regional Parks service.
You will work collaboratively with other senior rangers in the team to meet joint regional park outcomes (including the fields of Conservation, Partnerships and Programmes), as well as being adept at working within the Auckland Council whanau and its Councill Controlled Organisations (CCOs) to foster and further outcomes within your remit.
This is a truly unique role where you can connect with different groups and work on great projects.
**He kōrero mōu: About you**
An appropriate tertiary or recognised qualification in parks, recreation or environmental management is a requirement for this position, as are excellent communication & proven relationship building skills. Knowledge of park operations and Ranger work is highly desirable. To be successful in this role you will also be able to demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety procedures in the workplace.
This position is based at the Western Regional Parks office at the Arataki Visitor Centre; however, you will be required to work across all the Western sector and support the Regional Parks network. You will be able to work weekends and public holidays as part of a rostered standby system. A current New Zealand Drivers Licence is essential as you will be travelling within the Auckland region.
