**The Company**
Periomedic is a New Zealand venture-backed start-up developingand commercialising transformative products in the dental and periodontal technology sectors.
Our first focus is a patented breakthrough technology for the early detection and diagnosis of gum one of the most prevalent diseases in the world. We have a vision of a smarter, safer, more efficient method for assessing gum disease, reducing time and accelerating detection and accuracy of diagnosis.
Were doing this by solving complex technical challenges and fundamentally improving the clinical tools that will make assessment non-invasive, provide greater accuracy and greater speed, simplify real-time data capture, and significantly improve patient comfort.
Were developing hardware with a unique system approach, that will become the diagnostic standard for gum disease. Fast, easy, objective and reproducible, with powerful data analytics, and real-time control mechanisms.
We have completed initial technology development and validation and are now workingon refinement of MVP in preparation for clinical trials.
Were chasing a competitive global market and now need the right person to lead research and development and play a key role inbringing best-in-class technology to the world.
**The Role**
Periomedic is ready to welcome a full-time Research and Development Lead into the fold to collaboratively shape the companys technical and clinical pathway. This is a leadership role within the company, reporting to the CEO.
The role is multi-faceted. You will assume responsibility for delivering the companys key development outcomes andwork to build out the product and clinical requirements.You will be deeply involved in both building the product (observing/interacting with users, uncovering insights, designing product specifications and testing prototypes) and delivering clinical trials.
You will refine strategy and tacticsand be responsible for maximising productdevelopment, leading the R&D function to market launch and beyond.You will constantly seek opportunities to do more and better inimproving detection and diagnosis in oral care.
The core responsibilities for the role include:
- Work with the CEO to align clinical research strategy with the product development opportunity specific to the technical capabilities of Periomedics device(s) and the commercial opportunities in the market
- Support the Quality Management Systems framework for Periomedic and ensure that all contractors are compliant with the documentation needs for development
- Lead the short, medium and long-term research activities and associated development of products required to achieve product development milestones with Periomedics manufacturers
- Lead the clinical research strategy and publication timelines for Periomedics device(s) and/or features to be highlighted as part of commercial strategy
- Lead the technical and clinical competitor analysis. Be the leading technical and clinical voice within Periomedic to champion the products needs, advantages, disadvantages and more
- Lead the alignment of the clinical validation studies and clinical trials for the Periomedic device(s) and indication(s) with external partners
- Drivethe engineering and product designs from MVP onwards in conjunction with internal and external expertise
- Regularly update the CEO regarding progress on strategic seek guidance and feedback where necessary.
- Advocate for and champion improvements to product quality, safety, and performance. Understand and care about_how_we succeed, and how we can better serve our customers.
