New Zealand Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research Full time

We are looking for an experienced editor who has a focus on helping others, is good with details but able to focus on the bigger picture, is supportive and enthusiastic, and is committed to excellence.

**About the opportunity**

**Working with the full-time editor based at Lincoln, the primary objectives of this role are to**:

- edit scientific documents (client reports, science posters, conference and journal papers) for around 200 research staff
- provide editorial assistance in producing key company documents
- support Manaaki Whenuas internal processes for the production of technical reports for our clients
- provide training, mentorship or guidance to staff needing to improve their writing skills.

We are filling a permanent, part-time position (0.7 FTE). The position reports to the Business Support Team Leader and can be based at our Wellington, Hamilton or Palmerston North site. Flexible working options providing a mix of working on-site and at home are available.

**About you**

You have at least three years full-time experience as an editor, preferably in an academic or research environment, and a tertiary qualification, preferably in science or social science. You are knowledgeable about a range of editing techniques and have excellent writing skills, including a strong base in technical and/or scientific writing techniques. You have strong organisational, problem-solving, people, and communication skills, as well as the ability to prioritise competing demands on your time. You have experience supporting others, and providing guidance and training, and are willing to lend a hand when needed.
