Ngā kawenga | About the role
As the Principal Adviser Investment Planning, you will have a key role in the development of Ara Poutama Aotearoa's medium to long term financial investment strategies and provide financial advice and input into significant external business cases. Acting as the primary liaison with external agencies like the Treasury in these areas, you will forge collaborative relationships to ensure Correction's investments are progressed through government approval processes.
Working closely with the Senior Strategic Capital Planner, you will integrate external business case proposals into the capital plan, ensuring strategic alignment. You will provide essential support to Business Partners, enhancing the quality and consistency of business cases through collaboration with the EPMO and Business Partner teams. Your role extends to assessing investment decisions' commercial viability, identifying financial risks, and opportunities through rigorous financial analysis. Contribute to capability building across the department, offering financial and commercial expertise, while fostering relationships within the Finance Team and key business groups.
Through building strong relationships and providing high-quality advice to stakeholders and project managers, you'll ensure that our investment decisions are well-informed and aligned with Correction's strategic objectives.

- Demonstrated experience at senior level in a role communicating strategic financial management with the proven ability to develop trusted relationships with Senior Executives.
- Proven ability to think conceptually and make the “big picture” connections while remaining focused on operational practicalities.
- Demonstrated experience in review and input into significant business cases.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- A high level of drive and initiative combined with sound judgement.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The mid-point of the salary range is $143,461 and the full range (85%-120%) is $121,942 - $172,154. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
