Oranga Tamariki has set up a new payroll function within our People and Leaderhsip team; this new Team Leader position is a great opportunity to lead a small team within the payroll function and develop our processes within the team.

This is a fantastic role for someone looking to develop their career in leadership in conjunction with their payroll or payroll system knowledge. The role provides the opportunity to develop your people-leadership experience, bring your experience and expertise to day-to-day problem solving, and support your team to deliver the best outcomes.
Working closely with the Payroll Manager, and as part of the broader Payroll team, you will ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the Ministry's payroll function by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, and leading or supporting projects and discrete pieces of work.
Our payroll function connects with all areas our our business so you need to have great communication skills that can be adjusted to suit the audience and the ability to convey information and ideas clearly.

**Key requirements of the role include**:

- Significant payroll experience in a large organisation with proven experience operating Payroll systems, ideally using SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP);
- Sound working knowledge of leading a high-volume payroll service in a unionised environment;
- Experienced, confident, and credible at building strong relationships both internally and externally at all levels of the organisation, collaborating effectively with all stakeholders;
- In-depth knowledge and experience with excellent problem identification and resolution skills;
- People leadership skills with an the ability to coach, develop and motivate a team to deliver results who are engaged and empowered;
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
