There are significant changes in freshwater, resource management, indigenous biodiversity, and climate change at various stages in the pipeline which all need implementation ‘at place' in partnership with Iwi and hapū and local government to be successful.
In 2020 Manatū Mō Te Taiao / Ministry for Environment established the Policy Implementation and Delivery (PID) business group to accelerate delivery on the ground. You will also work to understand the organisation's policy and investment priorities and work programmes and lead the development of products to communicate these effectively with our partners.
This newly developed role is an opportunity for an already established manager in the public sector who is looking to advance their career and take on a high-profile and well supported leadership role within the Ministry. You will guide the strategic direction, pace, and delivery of the work programme, as well as support the Ringatohu | Director in building a highly engaged, cohesive culture, with a strong emphasis on wellbeing, diversity and inclusiveness.
You will enjoy working in a dynamic and complex environment. Your collaborative operating style will enable you to build trusted, productive relationships across the organisation, and with our key external stakeholders.

- exceptional and experienced people leadership, with a focus on delivering through others;
- business operations and improvement skills, preferably at management level;

- establishment of new functions, preferably at an organisational level
- an understanding of systems, processes and tools needed to support a new operating model and transformational change
- an excellent understanding of machinery of government and the public sector context, with public finance skills looked on particularly favourably
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
